John —
Last week, hundreds of thousands of federal workers in our region missed a paycheck. For many families this will now mean difficult choices about whether to pay for food, medicine, or basic bills.
This is happening as SNAP benefits are about to be interrupted for the first time in history, putting people in our region and across the country at increased risk of hunger. These connected crises are intentional, and as this administration plays politics with people's paychecks it's going to be up to us to support each other.
The Federal Worker Solidarity Fund is here to support furloughed workers during this time of crisis. We want your help. Support furloughed workers and families in our region by donating to the Solidarity Fund today.

The Federal Worker Solidarity Fund, run by the Community Services Agency of the Metropolitan Washington Council AFL-CIO, has met the needs of hundreds of fired and furloughed federal workers over the last several months. Requests have increased sharply since paychecks went missing, with more than 80 requests for support in the last four days alone.
The fund provides one-time assistance of up to $500 for emergency financial needs like food, prescriptions, or past-due bills for rent, mortgage, utilities, cell phone, internet, car payments, insurance, or medical bills.
Members of Congress from Maryland and Virginia are working to secure back pay and financial relief for federal workers, but it's going to be up to us to support one another in the mean time.
Contribute any amount to the Solidarity Fund and support furloughed workers in our region and their families.
