Hi there — it’s Jennifer Jenkins. First things first, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support since launching my campaign for the U.S. Senate.
Defeating Ashley Moody and the MAGA billionaires bankrolling her won’t be easy, but I feel way better about our chances with folks like you behind me.
This race is personal for me. And to understand why, I need to tell you about my mom’s lifelong illness.
When I was just three weeks old, my mom was walking up the stairs in our home when she collapsed and was paralyzed from the waist down.
After dozens of medical appointments, endless bills, and unanswered questions, she was eventually diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare autoimmune disease that weakens the muscles and makes even simple tasks exhausting.
When she was home, my mom spent most days in bed. My dad worked for the city and had what most would call “good insurance,” but even then, he had to take extra shifts and side jobs just to barely afford her care.
My brother and I woke ourselves up for school and walked to the bus stop alone. On the weekends, we would go to Pizza Hut with my dad and watch him make pizzas. We thought it was cool; he didn’t.
Unfortunately, my story isn’t uncommon. In America, one diagnosis can send your family into financial despair.
We all know that our healthcare system is broken, but politicians in Washington have done nothing to address the problem. Instead, they rake in donations from pharmaceutical and insurance companies, ignoring the needs of the American people.
Ashley Moody is part of the problem. In her short time in the Senate, she has already voted to cut the ACA subsidies that 73% of Floridians support.
In fact, nearly 5 million Floridians – the most of any U.S. state! – rely on these vital subsidies to keep their health care affordable, but Ashley Moody doesn’t care.
She was appointed by Ron DeSantis to be another rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s extreme agenda, and she has shown that it doesn’t matter who she has to cast aside to make her big-money MAGA donors happy.
I promise to defend health care in the U.S. Senate because I want to be a fighter for Florida’s families, not the top 1%.
My parents were brave, but no family should have to go through the financial and emotional struggles that they did, on top of managing a lifelong illness. Watching my parents struggle through the American healthcare system is one of the reasons why I am running for the U.S. Senate.
If you are with me in the fight to protect affordable health care access, please chip in to my campaign now. [ [link removed] ]
If we flip this Senate seat, Democrats CAN take back the Senate in 2026 and ensure that every American can afford health care.
I appreciate your support.
Jennifer Jenkins
