** This Month with IYD

It has been a busy time at IYD, and as we get ready for the midterms, young people around the Hoosier State are making a difference.


** Oppose the Redistricting Power Grab
------------------------------------------------------------

Young people have always been on the front lines of social progress, and this time is no different. Young Dems will not stand by while Republicans try to rig our elections. We need to stand together to beat the Republican redistricting scheme. We can still beat this corrupt power grab. Hoosiers are overwhelmingly against redistricting. You can keep up the pressure in the following ways:

1. Call your state legislators. Support from legislators is still weak, so keep the calls coming. Find their contact info here. ([link removed])
2. Tell voters to call their state legislators. There are several phone banks to get more Hoosiers to speak out and tell their legislators to oppose redistricting:
Tuesdays @ 6:30pm ET (Virtual with the Indiana Democratic Party) ([link removed])
Thursdays @ 5:00pm ET (In-Person with Congressman André Carson) ([link removed])
3. Attend protests and rallies during the Special Session. Keep an eye out for organized efforts to show our legislators that we won’t stand by while they attempt to cheat us out of fair elections.
4. Invest in young leaders. Young Democrats will push us forward to break the supermajority in 2026.

** Lake County Joins IYD as a Chartered Chapter

Earlier this month, the Indiana Young Democrats Executive Committee voted to make the Lake County Young Democrats an officially chartered chapter of IYD. We are excited to watch this amazing group lead and help bring common sense back to our state. Be sure to follow the new LCYD on social media.

** Young Dems at No Kings

Thousands of Hoosiers, including many Young Democrats across the state, took to the streets on October 18th. The people are sending a clear message: we will not stand idly by as corrupt Republicans try to steal our elections and our future. We’re excited to funnel this energy into winning in 2026 and taking back our state!
