Look, transparency is always welcome. It’s necessary, in fact, and it makes our government stronger. Anyone who shows up to monitor California’s elections will see a process with integrity, accuracy, and security.

But let’s be clear: this is unnecessary. And when you look at the broader context, including the fact that it was the Republican Party who requested these monitors, it’s clear that this isn’t about election integrity — it’s about political theater.

Donald Trump has spent years trying to undermine trust in our elections, from trying to end vote-by-mail to spreading baseless lies about voter fraud and so-called “rigged” elections. Case in point: he still claims he won the 2020 election!

The best way for any of us to respond to this is simple: vote. Vote early if you can! Drop off your ballot or put it in the mail, and remind your friends and family to do the same. Click here to find your voting options, ballot dropboxes, and polling locations.

California’s elections are secure. So no matter what the US DOJ does, we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done: running free, fair, secure elections.

Your vote is your voice. Let’s make sure every Californian’s voice is heard!
