In recent weeks, Donald Trump has dramatically escalated his war on nonprofits with NSPM-7, a presidential order criminalizing dissent as “domestic terrorism” and threatening to strip the nonprofit status of any organization that challenges his far-right agenda.

This is not a drill. This administration threatens our very existence as an organization, and we’ve already seen him target other groups by name.

But we are optimists. We can defeat authoritarianism if enough of us come together and refuse to submit. That’s the founding principle behind Common Dreams and the north star that drives us every day.
