Early Breast Cancer Detection Can Save Lives [ [link removed] ]

Do you know the recommended age to start getting your mammogram? In 2024, national experts gave a new breast cancer screening recommendation [ [link removed] ]: women with average risk should start routine mammograms at age 40. This change could save lives by catching breast cancer earlier — when treatment is more effective.

But early detection only works if people can get screened. In Washington, many people living in rural areas still face barriers like long travel times, limited clinic hours, and high costs. 

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re highlighting what can help close that gap.
