Virginia kicks off its own redistricting process 

  • Virginia lawmakers convened for a special session that began today to move forward with plans to redraw the state’s legislative maps – making Virginia the second state to propose a redistricting process that could net seats for Democrats ahead of the 2026 midterms. Like California’s new map, Virginia’s also would need to be approved by voters.
