John,
Today, members of the Smithsonian Board of Regents are meeting to discuss a Trump-imposed audit of the Smithsonian's museums, an effort that risks distorting the truth of American history and erasing the experiences and contributions of Black communities and other marginalized groups.
This morning, Color Of Change, alongside our DC-based partners at Rising Organizers, delivered more than 4,000 petition signatures to the Board of Regents. Together, we made it clear:
We will not stand for this neo-segregationist attack on our culture and our history.
But our work isn’t done. The pressure must continue.
This is just another piece of the Trump administration’s neo-segregationist agenda designed to turn back our progress, erase our history, and halt our freedoms.
To be clear: there would be no America without slavery, and to deny that is the denial of truth. We know this administration has no interest in the truth. That’s why Color Of Change will stand on the frontline for the truth and to protect and preserve our stories, our culture, and our past, no matter how ugly those truths may be.
Black history is American history; together, we must preserve and protect it against erasure.

Thank you for standing with us to defend truth, culture, and justice. Together, we can ensure the Smithsonian continues to tell our full American story, not one rewritten to fit a neo-segregationist agenda.
Until Just Is Real,
The Color Of Change Team
