When Bushra announced her candidacy, one of her top priorities was to run a campaign that practiced a better kind of politics—a campaign centered around community and powered by people, not corporations or special interests.
If Bushra was to earn her place on the ballot, it wasn’t going to because she simply paid people to collect the signatures. It would be because of the support from her neighbors, friends, and family in IL-9 that have come to know her because of her long track record of showing up for them.
That’s why we organized an entirely volunteer-run petition drive—and the people of IL-9 showed up.
This accomplishment was made entirely possible by the neighbors, community leaders, and supporters like you who have rallied behind our movement’s vision for a better kind of politics.
Now, our campaign is shifting focus to earning the support of even more of our neighbors ahead of the March primary. We have lots of work to do, but we already know that when people hear Bushra’s vision, of her story, and of her track record of showing up for IL-9, they overwhelmingly join our movement.
We just need to get the word out, and with your help we can raise enough resources to reach almost every voter in IL-9. Will you make a contribution of $25, $10, or whatever you can spare to help keep up the momentum and fuel our efforts to expand our movement for a better kind of politics?
