Dear Friend,

On Thursday, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum announced that he will open the entire 1.56 million acres of the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas leasing.

The Arctic — and our planet — cannot afford massive new oil drilling projects.

These lands are sacred to the Gwich’in Nation, home to irreplaceable wildlife, wilderness and cultural values, and have never seen industrialization.

The administration’s agenda for the Arctic doesn’t end here. It aims to maximize drilling across the entire region. Learn more about new threats to the Arctic and how you can help Earthjustice fight back. [[link removed]]

Since our founding 50 years ago, Earthjustice has gone to court to defend the Arctic from environmentally disastrous oil and gas projects. We stopped the Peregrine drilling project and are still in court fighting leases granted by the first Trump administration. We’ve protected countless acres of Alaska wilderness from pipelines, drilling, and other extraction.

In every case, we represent our clients free of charge — so your donations power our work. Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Team at Earthjustice
