In the United States, gun violence steals an average of 128 lives every single day.

It happens in our schools, our homes, our workplaces, and our neighborhoods. And while thousands of families are left grieving, the gun lobby spends millions every year to block common-sense reform… and replace Democrats like me with their hand-picked, bought-and-paid-for favorites.

I’m deeply proud to have the support of Gabby Giffords in my re-election campaign — a survivor and a champion for common-sense gun safety legislation. Her faith in this movement fuels my work to keep fighting for kids like mine — so they can grow up safe, free, and unafraid.

When I served in the California State Senate, Gabby’s story inspired my work. I led the charge to end gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds and even helped pass a first-in-the-nation law banning firearm and ammunition sales on state property.

Those bills gave me an ‘F’ rating from the NRA — and that’s a failing grade I couldn’t be more proud of.

Let me be clear: The NRA hates the fact that I’m in Congress. They hate that a champion of common-sense gun legislation is representing one of the most competitive districts in the country — so they’re gearing up to do whatever it takes to throw me out next year.

I won’t let that happen. Not now. Not ever.
