The federal shutdown has entered its fourth week, and the impact on families is growing increasingly severe. If the shutdown continues through November 1st, 140 Head Start programs across 41 states and Puerto Rico will have missed their scheduled federal funding. Without their operational funds, many of these programs — which serve more than65,000 young children — may be forced to close their doors.
