Hello, everyone.

Last week, Kathryn Bigelow’s new nuclear thriller, A House of Dynamite, was released on Netflix. The film comes at a time of growing nuclear tensions, as Sean Manning argues, and it’s crucial that viewers understand the fundamentally anti-nuclear message at its heart.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has launched a vitriolic campaign to label his political opponents terrorists. In a new feature, Inkstick fellow Tyler Hicks takes readers to the sites of pushback against the president’s military deployments, ICE raids, and overall drive to crush dissent.

“Don’t Get the Wrong Takeaway from ‘A House of Dynamite’” by Sean Manning (Oct. 23)

At a time when the Trump administration is marketing its so-called “Golden Dome,” a proposed “impenetrable” missile shield around the US, the energy created by A House of Dynamite could be directed to a plan that not only won’t work but will make the problem worse.

“The Boeing Strike’s Stopping Jets, But Workers Feel the Pinch” by Sophie Hurwitz (Oct. 24)

Thousands of Boeing machinists who make military weapons have been on strike since Aug. 4. Some say that, due to low pay, they have had to rely on food banks and second jobs to get by while working at the defense giant.
