Friend, I made a tough call yesterday, and you deserve to know why.

The past month has been one of the most challenging months we’ve faced since Trump entered office. Republicans have shut down the government and forced federal workers to go without pay. Costs are rising for working Americans. And all the while, Republicans are trying to gut health care and SNAP benefits from Americans in need.

People are rightfully scared, and Republicans are using that fear to their advantage. They’re building a false narrative, accusing Democrats of the shutdown despite having full control of the government.

As a result, our fundraising slowed down. But for Republicans, this was the perfect opening to ramp up. They launched new attacks against us, trying to pummel our movement.

It became a big problem, so my team and I sat down to figure out how to respond. We decided we needed to urgently expand our digital advertising efforts to combat these attacks and catch up.

This month's fundraising slowdown meant the money wasn’t in the budget. But I gave my team the green light anyway because we can’t let these attacks go unanswered — and because I’m betting on this grassroots team to help us close the gap.

This team has never let me down before. So, on the heels of this difficult budget decision, I’m once again asking:
