A large majority of Americans — Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike — agree: healthcare should be affordable for everyone.

Right now, 24 million people across the country rely on Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies to afford their insurance. But if Republicans succeed in letting these subsidies expire, families across the country could see their monthly premiums double overnight.

That’s what’s at stake in the current government shutdown fight. Democrats are holding firm to protect affordable healthcare. Meanwhile, Republicans are playing politics with people’s lives and holding the government hostage to push their extreme agenda.
