Today, we’re releasing a groundbreaking report on uncontacted peoples. A product of our 56 years of experience working on this subject, this is the first ever fully comprehensive report documenting the situation of uncontacted peoples worldwide.

We can now confidently say that there are at least 196 uncontacted Indigenous groups and peoples living in 10 countries around the world. All of them are facing threats to their existence, and almost half face threats so severe that they could be wiped out in the next 10 years if nothing is done.

You are a crucial part of the work we do to support uncontacted Indigenous peoples, including this report. Our new interactive website, launched alongside the report, allows you to explore the lives and experiences of uncontacted peoples. It demonstrates their resilience, as well as the threats against them, and includes personal stories from many of the formerly uncontacted people that Survival has come to know over the years.

Over the next several days, we’ll be sharing our crucial findings from our work on this momentous report. And we hope it will inspire you to stand once more for their rights.

Uncontacted peoples are at the edge of survival. Our report is not just words on paper, but a plan of action. We’ll be using it in our work, and asking you to lobby industry bodies to protect uncontacted peoples’ rights, and share this message with your friends and family.
