John,
Right now, the Supreme Court is deliberating on a case, Louisiana v. Callais, that could upend our democracy — and who holds power in it — for decades to come.
At stake is Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), which prevents states from diluting the votes of people based on their race. If the Supreme Court decides to weaken the VRA or even strike it down, that would open the floodgates for politicians to slice and dice districts in deeply harmful ways that would deny voters of color the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice.
We know where this kind of map-rigging lands us: less power for voters of color and more consolidation for the party in power. We simply can’t let that happen.
Already, politicians are saying publicly that they’re watching the Supreme Court closely — and getting ready to redraw their maps if the Court decides to gut Section 2. That’s where we come in.
All On The Line has to be ready with the organizing power we need after this critical ruling comes down. We must be prepared to mobilize voters and organize volunteers in the next stage of this fight, regardless of what happens next. Help All On The Line continue to fight for fairness and lead the movement to ensure equitable representation — not just in next year’s midterms, but for years to come: [[link removed]]
