Friend,

Donald Trump and Washington Republicans are free to deny the reality of climate change and shield Big Polluters from accountability. They can try to maximize their corporate donors' profits by rolling back crucial regulations. But the truth remains: they are actively trying to gut the hundreds of billions in investments I helped pass in the Senate – investments designed to curb emissions by 40% by 2030 and create good-paying jobs that will drive our state's clean energy transition.

And it's everyday working Coloradans that are paying the price.

The American West is at its driest in nearly 1,200 years – and all summer long, we saw drought conditions persist across southwest Colorado.

So when the region saw one-third of its average annual rainfall this month, the dry ground turned this heavy fall rainstorm into a once-in-a-generation disaster.

The San Juan River crested at 12 feet. The Animas rose more than three feet in a single day. Hundreds of folks in La Plata and Archuleta Counties had to evacuate. Thank God there were no casualties.

But it's clear that climate change isn't waiting for D.C. Republicans, so neither can we.

As the threats posed by climate change grow more urgent every day, Colorado needs a leader who will act with the same urgency to ensure the resilience of our communities. That's why I'm running.

I'm running to invest in clean energy infrastructure and jobs that will build up Colorado's middle class and reduce working families' utility bills.

I'm running to safeguard Colorado's clean water, clean air, wildlife habitats and outdoor beauty – for generations to come – from Trump's reckless, climate-denying policies.

I'm running because I know that together, we can secure meaningful climate solutions that'll make Colorado the safest state to live and raise a family – but to make that happen, I need you on this grassroots team.

If that sounds like the kind of leadership Colorado needs, friend, can I please count on you to contribute $5, or anything you can spare today, to power this campaign to victory?

Michael
