Dear John,
Starting November 1, millions of Americans will lose the SNAP benefits they rely on. It's a direct result of the ongoing government shutdown and decisions made by the Trump administration.
This didn’t have to happen. But when politicians play games with people’s lives, real families pay the price — right before Thanksgiving, an American holiday built around food and gratitude.
Working parents, seniors, and kids will feel it first as shelves empty and lines grow.
That's why it's time for us to step up.
With benefits vanishing, local food banks are the last line of defense against hunger, and they need our help now.
Here’s what you can do:
• Donate or drop off items — canned goods, shelf-stable food, formula, hygiene products.
• Spread the word — tell friends and family what’s happening and urge them to act.
• Find your nearest food bank at FeedingAmerica.org
When those in power walk away from responsibility, it’s up to us to rebuild what they break.
Let’s take care of each other.
