We have an end-of-month deadline coming up in just over a week, and there is so much at stake right now.
Here are just ten things that Trump is doing that are making our country less democratic, less safe, and less affordable:
1. Undermining trust in science and medicine:
Trump is defunding our world-class scientific research institutions, shutting out international talent, and spreading misinformation about vaccines and the safety of medicine like Tylenol.
2. Slashing food assistance:
He’s gutting the supplemental nutrition programs that keep millions of American families healthy and ensure our kids don’t go to bed hungry.
3. Abandoning our allies:
Trump is weakening our international partnerships, cozying up with dictators, and making America less safe.
4. Sabotaging renewable energy:
He’s killing clean energy projects, ceding global renewable energy leadership to China, raising utility bills, and making us more dependent on fossil fuels.
5. Damaging public health:
He’s slashing funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and key research programs, meaning cures will be delayed, clinical trials will end, and life-saving care will be harder to access.
6. Firing federal workers:
The Trump administration has already fired over 50,000 federal workers in the first nine months of this administration, and pushed out over 200,000 federal workers in total.
7. Tanking the economy with tariffs:
His trade wars are driving up the costs of everyday goods like clothes and groceries while alienating our allies.
8. Stripping away healthcare:
Under Trump’s new budget, millions of Americans will lose healthcare coverage. Many rural clinics and hospitals will be forced to close, and all of our healthcare costs will go up.
9. Undermining the rule of law:
Trump has been treating the Department of Justice as his own personal political weapon, using it to shield his allies and target his enemies.
10. Threatening our freedom of speech:
Trump wants to decide who gets to speak their mind in this country and who gets punished for exercising their constitutional right to free speech.
So like I said, there is a lot at stake these days — but I believe that together, we can take back our government and end this madness.
The GOP wants to overwhelm us and keep us from acting. But when we come together, we’re not powerless. We can organize, mobilize, and reclaim our country.
