Justice Democrats

John,

Representative Shri Thanedar — the do-nothing Democrat being challenged by working-class progressive Donavan McKinney — is spending taxpayer dollars on TV ads.

Tweet by Shane Goldmacher: Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) is using taxpayer House funds to run this TV ad about the shutdown… “Every American must have affordable healthcare, and that’s why I’m fighting in Washington DC, even if it means shutting this government down,” he says in it.

Instead of hiring caseworkers or legislative staff that could actually help Detroit families, Shri is spending his taxpayer-funded office budget on ads that boost his own political profile. Let’s be real: these are basically taxpayer-funded campaign ads.

Don’t even get us started on the fact that he’s spending taxpayer dollars on an ad about costs being too high…for taxpayers.

This isn't the first time Shri’s taken advantage of his budget to put himself first. He has a history of running TV, radio, and other ads (including gaudy billboards like this one) to boost his own fame while Michigan suffers:

Out-of-touch Democrats like Shri, who are more interested in vanity than helping their working-class constituents, are exactly how our Party got where it is today.

That’s why we've endorsed Donavan McKinney, a state representative running to unseat Shri and bring real representation back to his neighbors in MI-13.

Donavan is part of the next generation of Justice Democrats taking on incumbents who refuse to fight for the working class with the vision and urgency this moment demands. If we’re ever going to win Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, or other big changes to level the playing field for working families across our country, we need to elect leaders like Donavan and send corporate shills like Shri packing.

Can you chip in $5 to Justice Democrats today to help us support Donavan and the rest of our slate in their competitive primaries next year?
