Shamann for Supervisor
Hi John,

Dancing down the street, painting messages of solidarity, or birdwatching in Central Park, should never involve the police. And yet in recent cases, even in the Bay Area, white onlookers responded to these exact behaviors by calling the cops.

This week, with the support of 9 of my colleagues, I introduced The Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies (CAREN) Act to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, an ordinance that will make racially-biased 911 calls illegal and could lead up to hefty fines for people who violate this act.

It’s time to hold each other accountable for racism in our communities. Will you add your name to support my ordinance? Sign your name » If passed, this ordinance will reduce the number of emergency reports and resulting police violence against San Franciscans of color who are simply living their lives. No one should have to pay the price for someone else’s prejudice.

The Board of Supervisors is working diligently to keep all San Franciscans safe. In a time that demands attention to so many important causes, let’s make sure all people are respected as human beings.

Please sign your name in support of my ordinance, and share it with your friends today.

Let’s show the country that our City passionately believes in racial equality and is not afraid of being bold to make it happen. I'm in » Thank you for your courage,

Shamann
