Dear neighbor,

The shutdown continues. Each day, its impacts are felt more harshly in our homes and communities. I remain steadfast in keeping my promise to you: to fight for an end to this shutdown, to protect healthcare, and to lower costs for all families in CA-31.

This week, with the Speaker still refusing to call us back into session, I flew back home to CA-31 to tour some of our small businesses, help out at a local drive-thru food bank, and I hosted a tele-townhall to hear directly from you.

This week, I dropped by the Foothill Unity Food Distribution Center in Monrovia to help administer food to patrons. They combat food insecurity and support nutrition for families in our SGV community. Thanks for all your hard work to ensure residents are well-nourished.

Thank you, Totten Tubes Inc. for giving me a tour of your headquarters in the City of Azusa. Totten Tubes has an extensive inventory with a wide range of high-quality steel products with responsible sourcing and eco-friendly practices. They have been around for 70 years and continue to be a trusted partner for our local construction, energy, automotive, and agriculture industries.

Leader Emergency Vehicles manufactures emergency response vehicles right here in CA-31 in the City of South El Monte. I stopped by to tour their facility and speak with staff, including Dave Baker, who was the third-ever employee hired at LEV and has been working there for 50 years! Keep up the great work and we’re proud to have you in CA-31.

The Republican healthcare crisis will impact hundreds of thousands of constituents in my district. Sabrina, a resident of CA-31, was brave enough to share how the Republican’s devastating Medi-Cal cuts will affect her and her family, including her father who has ALS and depends on Medi-Cal to survive. Stories like Sabrina’s remind me why we cannot give up the fight for affordable healthcare – our constituents’ lives depend on it. You can listen to Sabrina’s story below.

Thank you to everyone who joined me at my tele-townhall this week to discuss the issues that matter to you most. I will continue to fight for the residents and families in CA-31. From protecting healthcare and SNAP benefits to ending this shutdown, I am here in Washington to work for you.

Another warm welcome to CA-31 goes to Ratchet Head Garage, who had their grand opening in Glendora! Ratchet Head Garage provides automotive services with a focus on diagnostics and quality repairs. We’re lucky to have a variety of specialty locally-owned businesses like Ratchet Head servicing all of our district’s automotive needs.

Congratulations to Wes’s Pets & Feed on your grand re-opening! We’re grateful to the City of El Monte and the community members who supported their return. Welcome back and we’re excited to see another CA-31 business thriving.
