If you’ve seen the headlines about the toss-up New Hampshire Senate race, you know that John E. Sununu is challenging me in the Republican primary.
But let me tell you something – anyone who thinks a “Never Trump,” corporate lobbyist who hasn’t won an election in nearly a quarter century is going to connect with today’s Republican voters is living in another universe.
While John E. Sununu was busy co-chairing John Kasich’s 2016 campaign AGAINST Trump, I was on the ground campaigning WITH Donald Trump.
While John Sununu was fighting for special interests in Washington, I was serving in the Trump Administration as an Ambassador – standing up for America on the world stage and working every day to stand up to China.
And while John Sununu has been cozying up to D.C. insiders this summer, I’ve put THOUSANDS of miles on my pickup truck crisscrossing New Hampshire to meet with real Granite Staters, the grassroots conservatives who are going to decide this race.
This campaign is powered by people, not lobbyists, not elites, and definitely not the D.C. establishment.
I stopped one political dynasty before, and I intend to do it again. In 2010, I took a leap that many thought was crazy. I ran for the U.S. Senate as a Republican for “Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat.” I was driven by a belief that people like you deserved a real voice in Washington, not just another career politician. I drove across the state, putting countless miles on my beloved truck, a 2005 GMC Canyon. With the incredible support of grassroots supporters like you from all corners of the country, we pulled off a stunning upset and won, shaking the political establishment to its core.
Here’s the truth: Senate seats are earned, not handed down.
We’re running a people-powered campaign to take back a critical U.S. Senate seat – one that’s been held for years by liberals like Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, who are out of touch with Granite Staters.
This is a chance to flip the seat, flip the script on out-of-touch career politicians, and keep the Senate RED. But if GOP primary voters don’t get the message, we risk losing this seat to a “Never Trumper” who will no doubt lose in November.
I’ll be clear: I can’t do it without you.
Just like that first campaign, I’m relying on grassroots supporters – not lobbyists or insiders – to power this truck forward.
