John,
Working people are the backbone of our economy, but too many are struggling to stay afloat.
The federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 an hour since 2009. In that time, the cost of living has skyrocketed — rent, groceries, health care, and child care all cost far more than they did fifteen years ago.
No one working full-time should be living in poverty. Yet millions of Americans do, because wages haven’t kept up with the actual cost of living.
It’s time for Congress to act. We need a federal minimum wage that reflects today’s economy, respects the dignity of work, and helps families build their lives.
Raising the minimum wage would promote:
✅ Economic justice: putting more money in the pockets of working families.
✅ Stronger communities: when people earn more, they spend more locally.
✅ Fairness: a society where hard work is rewarded with a livable income.
Fifteen years is way too long. Let’s make sure every worker in America can earn a fair wage and look forward to a better future.
Sign on now to demand Congress raise the minimum wage!
Thanks for stepping up,
Democratic Values
