I went to an ICE facility in Dallas this week because I wanted answers.

Earlier this year, reports came out that an ICE prosecutor in Dallas was running a social-media account full of racist, white-supremacist hate.

As a member of Congress, I demanded to know if that person was still on the payroll and what ICE was doing to protect the people in their custody.

Eight months later... They still refuse to tell us anything.

So I showed up in person, but when I got there, they turned me away at the door.

That’s what happens when accountability vanishes and transparency disappears.

And now, because Republicans have shut down the government, the very agencies responsible for oversight and immigration processing are FROZEN.

But this shutdown didn’t happen by accident. It’s the product of a Republican Party that would rather score political points for Donald Trump than keep the government working for non-billionaires.

While they play games with our democracy, I’m going to keep showing up, raising my voice, and fighting for basic human decency, but I need you with me.
