Greetings Ward 8 Residents,
The District's reported data for Wednesday, July 8, 2020, includes 37 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District's overall positive case total to 10,679. This is a decline new number of positive cases that were reported on July 7th. This report showed a record high of 73 new coronavirus cases since early June 2020.
Something to consider when watching the numbers and surges is that our city is offering more testing. The District has not released a timeline at which our city will move into Phase 3 of reopening. However, I encourage residents to take advantage of free testing. Should you feel unnatural changes to your health - please get tested.
We all have a part to play to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Take advantage of free testing and stay safe.

Tax Filing Deadline Is One Week Away ()
The District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) reminds taxpayers that the deadline is one week away to file and pay their 2019 District of Columbia individual and fiduciary income tax returns (D-40, D-41, and D-40B), partnership tax return (D-65), and franchise tax returns (D-20, D-30). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline for filings and payments was postponed from April 15 to July 15.
No late charges will apply to filings and payments that are made on or before July 15, 2020. [link removed]

DCHA Establishes Partnerships with UMC and GWU School of Nursing ()
The District of Columbia Housing Authority entered into a partnership with The Not-for-Profit Hospital Corporation commonly referred to as United Medical Center and the George Washington University School of Nursing to provide general health screenings and COVID-19 testing at all of its senior and disabled properties, several family properties, and its headquarters, located at 1133 North Capitol Street, N.E.
“The health and safety of our residents is of the utmost importance. These partnerships seek to eliminate barriers to healthcare, reduce health disparities, and make it easier for many of the District of Columbia’s most vulnerable residents to receive quality health services in their community,” said DCHA Executive Director Tyrone Garrett. “Many individuals have been unable to make preventive and primary health care visits while they stay home during the stay at home order, so DCHA is working to bring health care directly to our residents.”

(Washington, DC) – The District’s reported data for Wednesday, July 8, 2020 includes 37 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 10,679.
The District reported four additional COVID-19 related deaths.
* 58-year-old male
* 69-year-old female
* 70-year-old male
* 71-year-old male
Tragically, 568 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

The District has experienced four days of sustained decrease in community spread of COVID-19 during Phase Two.
