As the government shutdown drags into its fourth week, the damage is deepening far beyond Washington. Families are missing paychecks, and millions are being forced to worry about whether they’ll be able to afford their next doctor’s visit or prescription refill.

This isn’t abstract. It’s the direct result of a GOP majority that has chosen political theater over governing. Instead of working across the aisle to keep our government running, they are holding essential services hostage -- threatening everything from veterans’ care to affordable health coverage.

I decided to run for Congress because I’ve seen what happens when Washington’s dysfunction trickles down to our communities -- when rising costs, uncertainty, and gridlock leave working families to fend for themselves.

We deserve better.

The House majority is must-win for Democrats, and the path to victory runs through CA-27. Election analysts including the Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball rank this race as “Lean Democrat” – just one rating away from a toss-up.

With redistricting in California potentially adding thousands of new voters to our district next month, the stakes -- and the costs of reaching them -- are about to rise sharply.
