This photo of me you see above was taken last year in the East Wing during a holiday tour. I’m one of the millions of Americans who has had the honor of visiting the White House and admiring its rich history.

The East Wing was a symbol that our democracy belongs to everyone. This is what it looks like now:

For over a century, this wing of the White House has been known as “The People’s House” – hosting millions of visitors just like me, people who want to admire a living piece of American history and democracy. But just as he destroys our democracy and calls himself a “king,” Donald Trump has destroyed the East Wing to build a $300 million ballroom – all during a government shutdown while hundreds of thousands are furloughed without pay, or will soon go hungry without access to SNAP.
