Hello,
The other day, I was in the courtroom as the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case that will determine so much about the future of our democracy.
That’s no exaggeration. The Supreme Court is scrutinizing a map Louisiana drew, which conservative activists are claiming is racially gerrymandered — even though it was drawn to fix districts that multiple federal courts determined likely violated the Voting Rights Act. At the heart of this case is Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), the provision that safeguards people of color’s ability to vote for candidates that represent them — and one of the only major parts of the VRA still in effect after the Supreme Court significantly weakened the landmark law in 2013. The Voting Rights Act is the crown jewel of civil rights legislation, and Section 2 is the skeleton key that unlocks fair maps for millions of Americans.
And if anti-democracy forces get their way, the Voting Rights Act could be forever gutted through this case.
All On The Line must be prepared for every possible outcome and stay ready to respond on the ground — whether new maps need to be drawn or voters need to be educated about what’s next. YOU can equip us with the necessary resources and tools to organize, make voters’ voices heard, and fight for fairness in democracy. Donate to All On The Line today and help us defend democracy from persistent attacks: [[link removed]]
Our affiliate, the National Redistricting Foundation, is part of a legal effort arguing in front of the Supreme Court to save the VRA, what many believe to be the most effective civil rights statute in our nation’s history. It is deeply worrying to consider what our democracy might look like without it.
Meanwhile, All On The Line is also laser-focused on pushing back on the seemingly never-ending attempts to rig maps ahead of the 2026 midterms — working around the clock in states like Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri.
Democracy’s opponents are fighting on all fronts, and so we have to fight just as fiercely. We can’t just hope for the best — not when it comes to the Voting Rights Act, and not when it comes to state gerrymanders. We must be ready to respond.
Don’t delay — if you can, rush in a donation to All On The Line and help fund the work actively defending democracy today: [[link removed]]
