John,
It's Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. Recently, I sat down with Arizona small business owners and listened to how Trump's tariffs are destroying their livelihoods.
A local brewery operator told me a case of beer now costs 50 cents more to produce because of tariffs on aluminum, plastic, and stainless steel.
That might not sound like much. But when you're a small brewery trying to compete against global conglomerates, those increased costs add up fast. Materials they need are delayed or completely unavailable. Equipment costs have skyrocketed.
"These tariffs specifically hurt small businesses," he shared. "If you run a massive brewery, you can weather this. We can't."
This is exactly what I've been arguing in court: Trump's tariffs are an illegal tax on Arizona families and businesses.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Court of Appeals sided with us — the Democratic Attorneys General — ruling 7-4 that Trump overstepped his authority. The judges wrote that Congress never intended to give the President unlimited power to impose tariffs.
But Trump appealed to the Supreme Court, and oral arguments are scheduled for early November.
That's why I've been meeting with small business owners across Arizona — listening to how these illegal tariffs are affecting their operations. I'm building the strongest possible case to present before the Supreme Court.
I need to show the Justices real evidence of the harm Trump's tariffs are causing.
The brewery owner I met with said this is "the hardest time of the year for businesses," and the tariffs are forcing "some real tough conversations internally about what we can and can't afford to do."
This isn't just about one brewery. It's about restaurants, manufacturers, retailers — any Arizona business that relies on imported materials or equipment.
If you want an Attorney General who listens to small business owners and takes their concerns all the way to the Supreme Court, I need your support. [ [link removed] ]

It'll probably be a few months after oral arguments before a final decision is made. But I'm going to keep meeting with Arizona businesses, gathering evidence, and making the strongest case possible.
I’ll keep you posted,
Kris
