"Don't be chicken sh*t."

Sen. Tina Smith told us this week on the Hot Dish – and it's a message we've taken to heart since Democrats' beating during the 2024 elections.

What it means to us is that we're not taking a wait-and-see approach while farmers are stuck dealing with broken promises and while we're threatened with ICE agents on street corners.

We made a commitment to get uncomfortable, reach new audiences, and speak directly to folks who feel overlooked or left behind. Building a community around our signature show, Hot Dish, is one way we're fulfilling that promise.

Far-right Republicans dominate the independent media space – they're raking in millions of views, millions of dollars, and influencing young men in particular to move them further and further to the right.

I've never been known to back down from a challenge.

So, if we want to win back folks in rural places, small towns, and out-of-the-way communities – just like the places many of us grew up in – we've got to meet them where they are.

We're organizing to put a stop to would-be kings using the National Guard as pawns to intimidate us, using masked-up ICE agents to threaten us, and using economic levers to destroy crop exports.
