Donald Trump is building himself a $300 million ballroom at the White House in the middle of a Republican-sponsored government shutdown.

I’ve spent my life serving this country. I know what leadership looks like – and this isn’t it. It’s just selfishness on full display.

It's been weeks since Republicans shut down the government because they refuse to come to the table with Democrats to protect Americans’ health care coverage.

Federal workers are being left without pay. Millions of families are wondering if they’ll still be able to afford to see a doctor, fill a prescription, or take their kids for a checkup. Americans are struggling with uncertainty, yet Donald Trump is indulging in his selfish projects. He tore down the historic East Wing of the White House to make room for his personal $300 million ballroom.

Republicans claim to be focused on “fiscal responsibility,” but how does a $300 million ballroom fit into that? What Republicans are really doing is prioritizing vanity projects over health care for Americans. They’re deliberately making it harder for millions to stay insured. It’s out of touch.

This is everything that’s broken in Washington: Trump spending hundreds of millions on vanity projects, Republicans playing political games, while real Americans suffer. We can’t let this go on.

Can I count on you to contribute to protect this crucial House seat and keep me fighting for accountability?

Let’s show them we’re not backing down, and we’re definitely not giving in.
