Dear John,

We are living through an extremely challenging time. COVID-19 has taken the lives of over 130,000 people in the United States. And, across the country, people are rising up to demand justice for Black people and communities who have suffered from police brutality and systemic racism.

Who we elect matters now more than ever. In the middle of all of this, the Trump administration is using COVID-19 as a guise to roll back environmental protections at the federal level. These rollbacks will disproportionately affect Black, Brown, and Indigenous people, as race is the number one predictor of whether a person lives in a polluted area in this country.

We need leaders at all levels of government who will put people before polluters. Become a member of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters with a gift of $5, $10, or $15, and help us elect environmental and social justice champions this November. We can’t do our work without you. DONATE: act.myngp.com/Forms/7296395445805252608

The General Election is only four months away. Now is the time to build the resources that we need to get out the vote this November. During the lead-up to Oregon’s May Primary Election, COVID-19 forced us to be more innovative with how we reached voters. Instead of talking to voters face-to-face on their doorsteps, we relied more heavily on phone, text, and social media. With social distancing remaining the norm for the foreseeable future, we will have to continue to be innovative and find new ways to get out the vote this fall, and we need your help to do it.

Despite many challenges, we’ve already accomplished a lot this year. In March, Governor Kate Brown signed one of the boldest climate executive orders in the country. Thanks to Oregon’s vote-by-mail system we had record turnout in the May Primary Election, despite being in the middle of a global pandemic. And in June, breakthrough forest legislation passed during the special short session that will strengthen Oregon’s aerial pesticide spray regulations and set the stage for fundamental reform of the Oregon Forest Practices Act.

Together, we’ve accomplished a lot, but we still have a lot of work to do. If you are with us, please give whatever you can today: act.myngp.com/Forms/7296395445805252608

With gratitude,
Doug Moore, Executive Director OLCV
