Movement
family,
When we talk about running a grassroots campaign, here’s what we mean:
This month, the average donation we received from emails like this one was
around $17.
I’m moved every time someone makes a contribution. Of any amount, period.
It is a powerful statement that they are quite literally invested in our
movement. And it is an inspiring act: they know that if they can manage a
donation of $17, it will make a profound difference — because they won’t
be alone.
They know that their $17 will stand alongside a host of other $17
contributions. And together, they can add up to a campaign that’s
well-resourced even though we don’t take any money from corporate PACs.
[ [link removed] ]I’m grateful to everyone who chips in whatever they can manage, and I
truly appreciate you for being on this team. If you’re able, can you
make your first contribution to our campaign by matching our average
donation of $17 or any amount today?

I saw another sign of our grassroots power when I was looking at some of
our other fundraising statistics last month.
You see, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) requires campaign donors to
list their occupation information, and most of our donors for the year
were educators, social workers, musicians, nurses, and engineers, to name
a few.
It’s incredible to see how the supporters of our movement are also the
fabric of our communities.
That’s especially meaningful in an environment where wealthy special
interests, corporate PACs, and billionaire tech CEOs dominate campaign
spending. In fact, only 1% of the U.S. population contributed nearly 80%
of all political donations in 2023 and 2024.
But it’s the librarians, gardeners, caregivers, writers, small business
owners, and working people who drive this work and inform the policies we
fight for. I know who I am and whose I am — and I’ll always fight for the
people who got me here.
[ [link removed] ]Our campaign is fueled by people who chip in whatever they can manage.
That’s why I’m asking you to make a donation today — of any amount — to
help build a more just and equitable America.
In solidarity,
Ayanna
