| John, Defending our democracy is not something we do only in moments of crisis. It's something we do in every election. One of the most important opportunities to do that this year is coming up on November 4th in Pennsylvania. Twenty states, including Pennsylvania, use judicial retention elections for their state Supreme Court justices. That means voters decide whether sitting justices should remain on the bench for another term or trigger new elections. Basically, if voters say "yes," the justice continues to serve. If they say "no," the seat becomes vacant, and a new justice is elected. This November, Pennsylvanians will be asked to vote on the retention of three fair, experienced, and principled Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justices — Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht. These justices make up part of the court's 5–2 Democratic majority. During their tenure, Justices Donohue, Dougherty, and Wecht have upheld the values of fairness and integrity in every case before them. Their decisions have led to fairer maps, access to mail-in ballots, protections for the environment, and perceived reproductive freedoms. Three “YES” votes will preserve a fair and independent court. But voting "No" would open the door for MAGA extremists who would turn Pennsylvania’s highest court into a political weapon for Donald Trump. Our courts are the last line of defense against the cruelties and attempts against our democracy by the Trump administration. Keeping Pennsylvania's Supreme Court independent, and committed to justice will take all of us. That's why I'm asking you to get involved. Sign up with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and volunteer to help spread the word about this critical election >>
