John,
This is what we’re up against:
Texas just witnessed a 135,000-person drop in voter registration, the single biggest decline in more than a decade. Why? According to the Houston Chronicle, it’s “because election officials are being more aggressive in purging the rolls.”
This is on purpose and by design — and it’s only the latest attack on voting rights. Texas is already the most voter suppressed state in the union. With hundreds of polling places being closed down and no online or automatic voter registration, the on-the-ground work to reach and register voters is key to fighting back against these voter suppression efforts.
That’s where Powered by People comes in. We are out across Texas to register, stay in touch with, and help turn out the voters who will help decide the most consequential elections of our lifetime.
And as a grassroots organization, we’re counting on donations from supporters like you to make sure our volunteers have the supplies they need to register voters: clipboards, pens, printers, paper, envelopes, and more.
Thank you for your support at a critical moment,
Team Powered by People
