Throughout our polling, we have also consistently found that voters blame Republicans more than Democrats for the shutdown by about a +10-point margin.
Maybe Kim Kardashian was talking about Congressional Republicans when she said, “Get your f—ing ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days!” Because most voters see that Democrats are willing to come to the table and negotiate to end the shutdown, while the GOP is too busy doing… whatever they do at home (probably texting in racist groupchats).

Baby got back(pay)
Workers like big checks, and they cannot lie. Especially when those checks are just the salaries they were owed after their forced time off due to the ongoing government shutdown.
Trump and the GOP have turned to a new tactic to try to coerce Democrats into voting for their bill: threatening to cut “back pay” for federal workers who have been furloughed due to the shutdown.
Legal experts say that this tactic, which would leave hundreds of thousands of federal employees without compensation for their required time off, would violate a law that *Trump himself* signed in 2019 to guarantee back pay to federal employees who were furloughed due to a shutdown.
Maybe it’s time for Trump to take another one of those “person, woman. man, camera, TV” tests…
We find that a strong majority of voters (71%) think that federal government employees should receive compensation for their required time off during a shutdown, while only 21% think they should not receive compensation.
