Reporting just revealed that Trump’s election security team is being run by Heather Honey, a far-right activist who pushed bogus fraud claims in 2020 and helped draft the blueprint for how to challenge and reverse legitimate results.
Now she’s inside the Department of Homeland Security.
According to internal communications, Honey told a group of right-wing activists that the president could declare a “national emergency” to effectively take control of local election administration.
Let’s be clear: Trump and his MAGA allies want to take control of our elections on a bogus emergency declaration so Republicans can hold on to power.
That’s why Democratic Secretaries of State are so critical. They are our last line of defense of our democracy at the state level. Elected, independent officials who can certify legitimate results, protect access to the ballot, and reject coordinated disinformation.
