As it is for so many women, the fight to protect reproductive care is personal for me.
Just a few years ago, I suffered a miscarriage. Planned Parenthood was one of the only places I could turn to get the care I needed, which in this case was an assisted abortion.
Walking through the screaming protesters outside the building made the emotional pain of my loss hurt even more. It was a devastating moment in my life – and an experience I will never forget.
Without access to safe reproductive care, I could have died or suffered complications that could have prevented me from ever going on to have a successful pregnancy.
Ultra-conservative courts and politicians across the country are still hell-bent on dismantling reproductive freedom, with no regard for the countless women who have already suffered as a result.
