Let’s start with reviewing the definition of accountability: an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one's actions. We, the People, have a responsibility to hold our leaders accountable to their actions. However, the systems set up to give the power of accountability to the People are constantly undermined.

I’m running because that needs to end. Accountability is essential to our democracy and the protection and advancements of rights for all citizens. But we can’t wait until November. It’s critical that we lift up our voices now to hold our leaders accountable and in Virginia’s 1st district, that starts with my opponent Rob Wittman.

News broke this week that the Trump administration gave millions in federal coronavirus aid to corporations owned or operated by major donors of the president’s campaign. Yet, I have seen no outcry from Rob Wittman condemning this fact nor action to hold the Trump administration accountable.

Stand with me by instantly adding your name to demand Rob Wittman hold the Trump administration accountable and protect small businesses. [link removed]

Accountability doesn’t end there. Time and again, Rob Wittman proves to ignore the wellbeing of his constituency for his own political gain. He recently passed a resolution filled with empty posturing disguised as protecting public health.

This is a common theme for Rob. I'll prove it by citing his record on healthcare—which is abysmal and dangerous.

Voted over 40 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a replacement

Wants SCOTUS to repeal ACA from 23M Americans—in the midst of this pandemic no less

When he learned of the pandemic back in February, he didn't warn us. Instead, he quietly bought himself pharma stock, speculating on potential COVID19 treatments

In February and again in March, after the CDC and WHO had announced that this is a pandemic, he repeatedly and falsely told us the virus was “low risk & NOT spreading”

Finally, he promised tests 'soon' on March 13—and as of this email on July 9 he STILL hasn’t delivered or demanded Trump be accountable and deliver

I could go on, and on, and on...

We cannot tolerate a person in Congress who works to strip away our healthcare during a pandemic, falsely represents the facts to us about a deadly virus, and then claims an empty resolution is enough.

Instantly add your name to hold Rob Wittman accountable to his record and then donate to defeat him in November. [link removed]

Thank you for standing with me to hold our leaders accountable. I want you to hold me accountable so I hope you take the role of accountability seriously when I’m elected in November.

With peace,

Qasim
