Email from Womens Legal Education and Action Fund Inc. Reserve your ticket now! Dear John, Next month, LEAF is hosting the Advancing Social Justice Through Law Conference in Winnipeg. This conference will be focused on meaningfully addressing violence against Indigenous women and girls in Manitoba and the ongoing imperative of advancing the Calls for Justice coming out of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. If you’re located in Manitoba... We hope to see you there and invite you to reserve your ticket here. The conference will be held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg. LEAF looks forward to connecting with community on these topics and to celebrating and acknowledging the depth of talent and experience in Manitoba’s legal and frontline advocate communities. We’re honoured to be joined by Brandi Morin, acclaimed journalist and bestselling author, and Leah Gazan, the Member of Parliament for Winnipeg Centre, as our keynote speakers, along with numerous other local experts and Indigenous leaders. Come join us for a full day of programming along with a catered breakfast and lunch. If you have any questions, accessibility needs, or wish to request a complimentary equity ticket to attend, please email Chance Kawar at
[email protected]. Thank you so much, and I hope to see you soon in Winnipeg! For those outside of Manitoba... Please share the invitation to this important conference with your networks. Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-spirited people (MMIWG2S) continues to be a national emergency. In 2019, Canada's National Inquiry into MMIWG2S concluded that this violence amounts to an ongoing genocide. Yet, today, in 2025, only two out of the 231 Calls for Justice from the final report of this inquiry have been completed. Together, we can build a deeper understanding within the broader legal community in Winnipeg about the work that is currently being done to achieve the Calls for Justice, what still needs to be done, and what our responsibilities are in this work. Thank you for your ongoing support.
