Dear Friend,
Today is the 24th day of the government shutdown. As you know, in September, House Republicans passed a clean, short-term continuing resolution to fund the government at current levels through November 21st. Despite this being the same, nonpartisan continuing resolution that was passed 13 times under President Biden, the Senate has failed to pass the measure 12 times.

Despite the shutdown, President Trump has found innovative ways to ensure essential government functions continue uninterrupted.
Earlier this month, President Trump directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to utilize unused research and development funds to ensure our more than 1 million active-duty troops receive their paychecks. However, this is only a temporary solution. If Senate Democrats’ obstruction continues, service members will likely miss their scheduled October 31st paychecks.
President Trump also took bold action to protect the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. The WIC program received $300 million in unspent tariff revenue to keep the program funded through October. This will ensure that the more than 6 million low-income mothers, young children, and expectant parents who depend on WIC will continue to be able to purchase nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables, low-fat milk, and infant formula.
Additionally, President Trump is making sure our farmers and ranchers have access to important resources like loans and other programs administered by the Farm Service Agency. Earlier this week, the United States Department of Agriculture announced it plans to release $3 billion in aid to U.S. farmers that had been frozen by the government shutdown.
Despite the shutdown, our office remains open to serve the people of Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our office at (763) 241-6848 if there is anything we can do to assist you or your family.
