Legislative Update
Greetings!
Mayo Clinic Ending Labor and Delivery Services
As many of you know, our Mayo Clinic team in Owatonna just announced the end of Labor and Delivery Services in Owatonna effective November 16th, 2025. I am supporting Mayor Jessop and Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce President Brad Meier as we work through this issue. Per a statement provided by Mayo Health System (MCHS), Allina Health will assume OB/GYM physician staffing responsibilities for labor and delivery at the Owatonna Hospital. Currently, we are working with Mayo Health Systems and Allina Health to clarify prenatal and post-natal continuity of care. Although I am in Washington D.C. this week, Mayor Jessop and Mr. Brad Meier are keeping me up to date on this issue and I am in contact with the Mayo Health Systems Government Affairs team.
Legislative Energy Horizon Institute Course (Part 2)
As I mentioned, I am in Washington, DC this week, attending the second part of Energy Education for Policymakers course. In spite of the federal government shutdown, there is still plenty of things happening here. We are learning from the Energy experts from the Federal Regulatory Commission, Electrical Grid Modernization coalition, Natural Gas industry, Advanced Nuclear Energy, and others. The free flow of safe, reliable, and affordable energy is key to our livelihood! This course helps us better understand how every aspect of our energy infrastructure serves our nation.
My letter is a little shorter this week as I still have a little homework to do for my course.

Coffee with Tom
Please feel free to join me for Coffee with Tom at the Owatonna Chamber of Commerce on Friday, November 7th at the Owatonna Chamber of Commerce from 12:00pm-1:00pm.
Our next meeting in Waseca will be on Friday, November 14th at the Waseca Chamber of Commerce. Unfortunately, due to committee and travel conflicts in October, we could not find a viable option for an October date.
Thank you for your support and feedback!
