John,

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the world, but that change comes
with a cost. Behind every “smart” technology that we use are data centers:
giant warehouses that run nonstop, guzzle power and water, and quietly
dump their excessive energy bills onto the communities least able to bear
them.

AI is transforming everything — but people deserve transparency before
data centers reshape their neighborhoods.

So today, we are exposing the truth. Here’s real data on data centers:

Data Center Spotlight

* Water Use:
One large data center can burn through 10 million gallons of water a
day in some of the driest parts of the country. That’s water stolen
from local residents just to keep the tech cool.

* Dirty Energy:
These facilities devour nearly 20x more power than the average
household, straining outdated grids and causing rolling blackouts.
Most still run on gas turbines, pumping pollution that could cause
600,000 new asthma cases a year by 2030.

* The Job Myth:
Tech companies promise jobs, but most data centers create fewer than
20 permanent ones. The worst part? Communities are stuck with the
bill, as power costs are expected to spike by 60–70% in areas where
these data centers move in.

That’s why we created the Green the Grid campaign, to expose the truth
about AI’s dirty footprint and fight for a future where technology doesn’t
come at the expense of our health, wallets, or planet.

See how the data really impacts our communities by reading about our 3 data
center spotlights.

Now that you’ve got the data on data centers, let’s make sure everyone
else does too.
