We are nearing two months since the House passed the HEROES Act
to provide additional emergency relief to those most harmed by
the pandemic and its economic fallout.

Instead of taking action in the Senate, Mitch McConnell decided
to go on vacation without passing emergency relief that's largely
needed because of Donald Trump's utter failure to listen to
scientists.

July 1st was the date by which many state and local governments
had to make key budget decisions. Because McConnell left the
Capitol for vacation without providing additional help, many of
them have had to slash their budgets, and thousands of more
families will now lose the jobs they rely on to pay their bills
and survive.

And that's not all. In just a few weeks, the prohibition on
issuing eviction notices will expire -- and thousands of people
could be forced out of their homes. That is a terrible outcome at
any time, but especially in the midst of a pandemic.
