John,
Exactly two weeks ahead of the November 4 federal budget,
Jewish leaders from across Canada gathered on Parliament Hill to meet
with the government and the opposition.
Together, we delivered a united message to elected officials
from both sides of the aisle: at a time of rising hate and extremism,
they must step up and do more to safeguard
Canadians.
From Victoria to Halifax and in cities in between, our
community's security environment has fundamentally
changed.
That’s why we brought forward five key
priorities:
-
Boosting investments in community security in Budget
2025
-
Strengthening enforcement of existing laws and
improving Bill C-9, the
Combatting Hate
Act
-
Closing gaps in Canada’s anti-terror laws
-
Holding Hamas and the Palestinian Authority
accountable
-
Emphasizing Canada’s continued support for the U.S.-led Middle
East peace plan
These conversations are critical, but
parliamentarians need to hear from all Canadians – including you.
Because it all starts with security. Keeping people safe is
the number one priority for any government. And it is the foundation
of a safe and thriving democracy.
Since 2023, the federal government’s Canada Community
Security Program has helped protect targeted communities – including
ours – by supporting essential protective measures and tools. But with
threats growing, the need is also escalating.
Visit ActionHub.ca
to urge the government to boost security investments in Budget 2025.
