John,
Nearly a month ago, voters in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District overwhelmingly voted to elect Adelita Grijalva to represent them in Congress — replacing her father Rep. Raúl Grijalva, who passed away this spring. But Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is refusing to swear her in — leaving 800,000 people without a voice in Washington. This delay has nothing to do with procedure and everything to do with politics. It’s a direct attack on our democracy and on a majority-Latino district that deserves equal representation.
While families face rising costs, polluted air and water, and a government shutdown, Speaker Johnson is silencing their representative and the work Congress needs to get done.
Tell Speaker Johnson to stop delaying and swear in Rep.-elect Grijalva immediately. |
