John,
Last week, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Louisiana v. Callais
— a case that could gut the hard-won protections of the Voting Rights Act.
Louisiana Republicans are asking the Court to ban lawmakers from
considering race when drawing districts. If they succeed, Black and Latino
voters could lose the power to elect leaders who represent their
communities, weakening their influence and silencing their voices.
This is a direct attempt by a MAGA-packed Court to undermine civil rights,
rewrite the rules of democracy to benefit the powerful, and erase decades
of progress for communities of color.
We’ve seen this playbook before. Earlier this year in Texas, MAGA
Republicans pushed an unprecedented mid-decade redistricting plan
targeting communities of color. Now Louisiana is next — and it won’t stop
there.
If they win, it would send a ripple effect across the country, setting a
dangerous precedent for gerrymandering and voter suppression. We can’t let
that happen.
The Squad is in Congress every single day, standing up to right-wing
extremism and fighting for a future that leaves no one behind — but this
work doesn’t happen alone. We need all of us, standing shoulder to
shoulder, to keep this movement strong.

against this blatant power grab and protect our fundamental voting rights?
