A Quick Reminder from Kitsap County Public Works
Rainy Season
Rain is on the way! Don’t Wait – Clear the Grate
Kitsap County is expecting heavy rain this weekend, and we’re asking for your help to keep our neighborhoods safe and our waterways clean.
When rain falls, leaves and debris can clog storm drains, leading to localized flooding.
*Public Works staff will be out responding as quickly as possible, but with hundreds of miles of roadway and thousands of drains, we rely on community members like you to lend a hand.*
Here’s how you can help protect your home and neighborhood:
* Keep neighborhood storm drains free of leaves and debris. If you see a clogged storm drain, use a rake, shovel or broom to clear the drain.
* If this does not help, report the blockage to Kitsap1 at 360-337-5777 or use the SeeClickFix app.
* NEVER remove a storm drain lid or attempt to clean a drain located in a busy street.
* Do not wade into water when you are unsure of the depth.
* Dispose of leaves properly. Compost or bag them—never blow or rake them into the street.
Together, we can reduce flooding, protect our roads, and keep Kitsap’s stormwater system flowing smoothly.
Thank you for being part of the solution! Your efforts make a big difference in protecting our community and local waterways.
Stay safe and dry, Kitsap County!
